Formerly known as Buena Vista Television Communications, the division was renamed in 2002 after the purchase of ABC. Today, the global news and entertainment television group is headquartered in Burbank, Calif., with additional major operations in New York and across the United States and Canada. The Disney/ABC Television Group conducts original production, programming, and television distribution for The Walt Disney Company and ABC networks.
ABC Television Network delivers broadcast programming to more than 220 ABC affiliate stations across the country. Among the entities under this banner are ABC News, ABC Daytime, and ABC Kids. Additionally, the division owns several local television stations, including WABC-TV in New York and KABC-TV in Los Angeles. Within the ABC Entertainment Group, ABC Entertainment is responsible for all network entertainment programming for ABC’s primetime and late-night lineup. ABC Studios develops and produces the primetime and late-night content, while Times Square Studios is concerned with daytime and syndication programming. ABC Family combines production of original television and movies with licensed material. The cable channel’s content reaches more than 97 million homes. Additional operations of Disney/ABC Television Group include numerous Web destinations, including the Radio Disney Network, Hyperion Publishing, and Disney Animation TV.
